What does it mean when a counselor/mental health professional is 'qualified'? A Qualified Mental Health Professional/Provider is someone who has received a minimum of a bachelors degree in human services and who also has at least one year of experience working with individuals with a mental health diagnosis.

Trevor Gobble MA, LPC

I’m proud to call Southwest Virginia home. Born in Roanoke and raised in Bedford County, I graduated from Staunton River High School, where I dabbled in athletics but always found myself drawn to learning and understanding people.

After high school, I began my college journey at Bridgewater College before taking time to explore different paths—working multiple jobs, living independently, and continuing my education at Virginia Western. Through this period of self-discovery, I realized that my true passion lies in helping others navigate life’s challenges. This led me to pursue and earn my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Liberty University in 2017.

That same year, I married my wonderful wife, Katelyn, whose support and encouragement have been central to my growth as a person and a counselor. Together, we are raising three energetic boys—Jack, Brooks, and Rhys—who keep us on our toes and constantly remind me of the importance of empathy, patience, and humor.

My professional journey continued with the pursuit of my Master’s degree in Counseling, which I completed in the spring of 2023. I then went on to complete my residency and became fully licensed as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the state of Virginia in February 2025.

As a counselor, I take an eclectic approach, meeting clients where they are and utilizing evidence-based modalities that fit each person’s unique circumstances and goals. While I draw from a variety of therapeutic models, I most often lean towards Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), helping individuals cultivate psychological flexibility and discover what it means to live a values-driven, meaningful life. My aim is to create a supportive, nonjudgmental space where clients feel truly seen and heard, and where we can work together to navigate whatever challenges life brings.

Whether you’re facing life transitions, seeking clarity, or simply need someone in your corner, I’m honored to walk alongside you at Always There Counseling.
